Cerro Coso Community College is excited to announce the hiring of their new head volleyball coach, Nicole Brown. Coach Nicole Brown was officially hired earlier this year in order to continue preparation for the fall 2023 season. The Cerro Coso Women's Volleyball team has not competed since the COVID-19 modified season of spring 2021 following the loss of players and the challenges presented following the pandemic.

"The athletic department is thrilled to see the volleyball program running once again, and I look forward to the development that Coach Brown will bring to the program," said Athletic Director John McHenry. "Volleyball is a thriving sport in our community and I believe Coach Brown brings a skill set to foster that relationship and continue to make the Coyote program exciting to engage with".

Nicole Brown has her eyes set on developing the program quickly. The Southern California native is no stranger to high levels of competition and she plans to bring a strong work ethic to develop team growth, academic excellence, and personal achievement. She brings a high energy to her players and challenges them to assume leadership on and off the court.

When asked about the challenges that lie ahead of her, Coach Brown responded, "Over the past 20 years I've had an opportunity to develop as a player, excel as a Division 1 collegiate libero at Howard University, and evolve in my coaching career at the junior, club, and high school level, including coaching a HS State Champion Volleyball Team in New Orleans, LA. I'm excited that my volleyball journey has brought me back home to Southern California where I first fell in love with the sport. I'm at a place professionally where preparation has met opportunity and I look forward to leading the Lady Coyote Volleyball Program forward."

The Lady Coyote volleyball players are fast at work this summer with strength and conditioning already underway. Coach Brown hopes to have this year's recruiting class rounded out in the next few weeks with the season currently scheduled to open up at Antelope Valley College on August 30.
