The Cerro Coso Lady Coyotes Softball team earned their first sweep of the season this past weekend in enemy territory at San Bernardino College. They took game one in a nail-biter ending defeating the Wolverines 5-4. Game two, however, was not as nerve-racking as the Coyotes won 9-5 after taking an early lead and holding onto it throughout the game. Don't look now, but this sweep also puts the Lady Yotes on a 3-game win streak.
Some standouts of this weekends contest were Kiara Rocha, Rosaleena Trujillo, and Rheanna Bell. Rocha went 5-8 on the day with an RBI and was a thief on the basepaths with 5 stolen bases. Trujillo was able to hold down the Wolverines on the pitching side throwing a complete game and striking out two, while also going 4-8 on the day with 2 doubles and 4 RBIs at the plate. Bell also shined in the circle on Saturday pitching a complete game with 2 strikeouts and also went 3-5 with a double and 2 RBIs on the day.
The Lady Coyotes continue their long stretch of away games this week going to IEAC opponent COD on Wednesday and then traveling to MSJC on Friday to face the Eagles in double-header fashion. They hope to continue this momentum in the heart of their conference season.
