The Cerro Coso Cross Country program took another great step forward Friday, September 20th at the Golden West Invitational. Coach Slaymaker says about the race, "We had five runners compete and each made big strides forward in their seasons. Every runner set a new Personal Best for themselves at the college level."
On the women's side Alaina Check broke her school record by 2 minutes with a new 5K time of 26:35. Genevieve Vogel who is the Coyote's lone returner to race, set a personal best with a time of 29:05 cutting off over a minute and a half from her previous race.
On the men's side the Coyotes saw great progress in the 4 mile men's run. Tristen Attakai again led the group with a time of 25:11 cutting off two minutes from his first race time. Julian Ramos cut off more than two minutes improving his time to 26:42. And Andrew Quackenbush improved his 4 mile time to 33:19 running 2 and a half minutes faster.
The team continues to grow and develop, and is preparations for their next race as they head to the SoCal Preview hosted by Chaffey College on October 4. The race is a make-up date, as the original race was postponed due to poor air quality. Go Coyote XC!
