The #27 Coyote Basketball team improves it's record to 9-1 with a Saturday victory over Gavilan College. With the win, the Coyotes have won 9 straight games after dropping the season opener to #8 Hancock College. The nine game win streak by the Coyotes is currently the 5th longest active win streak in the state. During Saturday's match up, Cerro Coso was lead by Jordan Pumphrey (20 pts.) and Haven Ousley (16 pts.) against a dangerous Gavilan team. But the Coyote attack was no match as they entered halftime with a 10 point lead that they never gave up and eventually won by the same margin 87-77. The win gives the Coyotes some strong momentum as they prepare to enter conference play on Wednesday in their season home opener against rival Barstow College (2-10). This week marks the inaugural opener for all Inland Empire Athletic Conference men's basketball programs. The conference will be a juggernaut in Southern California represented by perennial powerhouses Chaffey College, San Bernardino College, Mt. San Jacinto, and is rounded out with the always competitive programs of Copper Mountain, and College of Desert. In pre-conference standings, the Coyotes enter this contest in the #1 spot with the best non-conference record followed closely by SBVC at 9-2. Come Run With the Pack this Wednesday for a 6:00 pm tip off at the Cerro Coso Gymnasium.
