The Cerro Coso Baseball team opened up the season at De Anza College this past weekend with 1-1 split on the series. In game one, the Coyotes were able to overcome a long first inning and come away with a 13-1 win behind the pitching performance of freshman, Trevor French. The game was also highlighted by a late inning home run by sophomore, Nicholas Erickson.  Game 2 also showed signs of a strong start by freshman pitcher, Matthew Chavez, but the Coyotes could not hold off a late game De Anza rally, which left the Coyotes with a 7-10 loss. On the weekend the Coyotes were lead offensively by returners, Anthony Davis, Luis Reyes, and Kevin Verduzco.

Cerro Coso is on the road this week as they travel to take on Mt. San Antonio College, Thursday and Bakersfield College, Saturday. The home opener is set for 1:00 pm start at the Dawg Yard on Wednesday, February 5th.
