Cerro Coso Hosts Imperial Valley Thursday

Cerro Coso is still looking for their first win after a slow start. The Coyotes, currently owning a 0-5 record are geared up and looking to add some positive marks to the win column.  Cerro Coso opened up their season with perennial CCCAA powerhouses Southwestern CC, and Ohlone CC (a 2017 team that reached the Final Four), followed up by an always tough Chaffey CC baseball program. The early season has challenged this young and relatively inexperienced team. On the field, the Coyotes have two returning players in shortstop, Corey Young (.350, 1 HR), and Peyton Speed (.286). Returners Young and Speed are accompanied by transfers Rey Torres, Charles Grant, and Solomon Maddox as the only position players that have seen time on the field with collegiate experience. On the mound, the experience goes to Cerro Coso returner Paul Dykes, as well as transfers Jose Martinez and Eric Alicea.

The early season battles have been hard fought by the Coyotes, and they remain undeterred as they prepare for conference play in a few weeks. In a sport where chemistry and game time experience pay off, the Coyotes have continued to show signs of improvement through these contests and look to put it all together in the upcoming games.

Cerro Coso hosts Imperial Valley CC in a 12:00/2:00 double header (two, seven inning games) and hits the road on Saturday to play San Diego CC.
